The Division of Public Health Sciences welcomes new faculty member Lisa Klesges, PhD, who will join us at the level of Professor on April 1. Over the past ten years, Dr. Klesges has served as Professor of Epidemiology, Director, and Founding Dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Memphis. Previously, she was an Associate Member in the Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She has also served for the last three years as Senior Advisor for Implementation Science and Public Health with the National Cancer Institute. She is currently a member of the Healthcare Industry Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
Dr. Klesges earned her PhD in behavioral epidemiology from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. She has since served as a principal investigator or co‐investigator on over 40 research projects supported by NIH, national philanthropic and local agencies. Her research, resulting in over 100 publications, has looked at prevention of childhood obesity, evidence-based health behavior change, and translational research methods in cancer prevention and control. Dr. Klesges’s work here will focus on implementation science and rural health disparities. We look forward to her joining us in April!
