Dr. Elizabeth Yanik is an epidemiologist with experience working in a number of research areas including cancer, infectious disease, and surgical populations. Her primary appointment is in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and she is developing a research program focused on the epidemiology of musculoskeletal disease. She is particularly interested in co-morbidities that develop in populations of patients with chronic disease. In order to answer important research questions in specific clinical populations, Dr. Yanik’s research has utilized large databases and linked datasets, including data from disease registries, electronic medical records, and pharmacy and insurance claims. To conduct studies using these resources, she applies sophisticated analytical approaches, including causal inference methods.
