This past fall, PECaD dedicated resources to creating and updating the 8 Ways to Reduce Cancer brochure series for the Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Studies. PECaD’s partnership with the Buder Center has grown tremendously within the past few years. In feedback PECaD received from community members was a lack of educational information for American Indian/Alaska Natives on healthcare and prevention.
In late 2016, PECaD adapted two brochures specific for these populations: 8 Ways to Reduce your Risk of Breast Cancer, and 8 Ways to Reduce Your Risk of Colon Cancer. This fall, PECaD updated those two brochures as well as began to adapt the 8 Ways to Stay Healthy After Cancer brochure for the American Indian/Alaska Native populations. These brochures have been very well received at outreach and events in the St. Louis region, and we hope to complete the four brochure series for the Buder Center in the coming year.
