Research Interests

My current research in the Division of Public Health Sciences builds upon my long-standing interest in health literacy. My prior and current research studies have focused on health literacy across various health contexts, including cancer, asthma, prescription drug advertising, and emergency department care. Currently, my major focus is health literacy and genomics, and the communication of genetic and genomic information. My research examines the impact of genetic and genomic information on cognitive and behavioral outcomes among individuals with varying levels of health literacy from diverse audiences. In addition, I am currently investigating preferences for the communication of results from whole genome sequencing among cancer patients.
